Finished knitting the Garden Patch (please take that literally: I finished the knitting, but the finishing is far from done), so the time has come to continue with the Hringur sweater. Tubular cast on for the body.
Hard to believe this is going to become a neat (I hope) bottom edge to a K1P1 rib!
Cast on 210 stitches with the tubular cast on technique described in the Knitting Handbook; the first half of the first tubular knit row is done (a tubular knit row consists of a "to" and a "fro" to form one row). I practiced this technique on swatches (!), and used it for the sleeves, and though for an inexperienced handknitter like myself it's not easy, it really is worth the trouble. It looks so much nicer than an ordinary cast on.
